Overview

Peter M. Fasolo is an accomplished board director, global executive, and Fortune 50 leader with a distinguished career in multinational consumer and pharma industries, as well as in private equity management roles. As Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Johnson & Johnson, he led global talent strategies, comprehensive human resources operations, and helped structure J&J’s retail business for successful spin-out and IPO. As a mentor, Fasolo helps senior executives align leadership, structural, cultural and operational disciplines to drive organizational success.

Career History

Fasolo currently serves as an Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School and as an Advisory Board Member for The Conference Board and Censia, an AI/ML-driven executive talent recruitment firm. He serves on two PE-backed boards: Thorne (an L Catterton portfolio company); and AmeriVet Veterinary Partners (an AEA-backed network of veterinary hospitals). He also serves on the board of the National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR), and as a Trustee at Tufts University. Additionally, he serves as an HR Advisor for World50. Named a Fellow of the NAHR in 2017, Fasolo is a recognized thought leader, with insights featured in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Harvard Business Review, and Human Resource Executive.

During his 14 years as Chief Human Resources Officer at Johnson & Johnson, Fasolo led the company’s human capital strategy, helping it earn consistent recognition as one of the world’s best places to work and most admired companies. He oversaw two CEO successions and worked closely with the Board of Directors to shape executive compensation strategies as a member of the Executive Committee, Management Compensation Committee, and Chair of the Pension and Benefits Committee. Under his leadership, more than 80% of senior roles globally were filled with diverse, succession-planned leaders, strengthening the company’s leadership pipeline. He led J&J’s transformation of its human capital strategy by establishing a global network of shared services and developing an advanced analytics capability to align talent with business objectives. Fasolo also expanded employee benefits by enhancing paid leave policies for military service, parental leave, bereavement, volunteerism, and mental well-being.

Fasolo was involved in numerous acquisitions and divestitures and was instrumental in the separation of J&J’s Consumer unit into a publicly traded company (Kenvue). He helped assemble the board and served as a director during the first year of its spin off.

Before rejoining J&J, Fasolo was Chief Talent Officer at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), where he worked on operational improvements, leadership development, and executive compensation for the firm’s North American portfolio companies. Previously, he served as J&J’s Worldwide Vice President, Human Resources in the Medical Devices segment and was also the Company’s Chief Talent Officer with responsibility for executive assessment and development.

Earlier in his career, Fasolo spent nearly 13 years with Bristol-Myers Squibb Bristol-Myers Squibb in executive level human resources roles across business segments, and lived and worked outside the U.S. including Paris, France.

Personal

Fasolo earned a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Delaware, an M.A. in Industrial Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Providence College. He currently resides in New Jersey with his family.
