Overview
Mark Gumz is a former CEO and board director. He brings over 40 years of experience in international business driving revenue and EBITDA growth in companies in fast-paced global industries. As a mentor at the ExCo Group, Gumz has worked with Fortune 250 C-suite executives in the data science, energy, financial services, insurance, private equity, technology, and transportation sectors. He has a proven track record in strategy and process improvement, change management, startup initiatives, and innovative programs with an emphasis on employee career development.
Career History
In addition to his current work at ExCo, Gumz has also served as vice chair and board trustee of the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, a nationally recognized rehabilitation leader. He is currently a pro bono Advisor to the CEO of the Institute for Transformative Technologies, an organization dedicated to creating and delivering breakthrough engineering technologies to improve the quality of life for people living in developing countries.
As president and CEO of Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA), a wholly owned subsidiary of Olympus Corporation of Japan, Gumz successfully transformed the organization. OCA doubled its revenue, and EBITDA grew by more than 1000% during his tenure.
He was also named an Executive Managing Officer of Olympus Corporation. He was the first American to achieve this distinction, and served in the global management office for the parent company in Tokyo.
Gumz began his career with GE and held management positions with the Marubeni America Corporation and Sankyo Seiki Co. He also ran his own international trading company for 15 years.
Personal
Gumz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in humanities from The Ohio State University. He and his wife currently reside in Bethlehem, PA.
