OVERVIEW
Anne Mulcahy is an accomplished CEO, chair, president, and advisor. Mulcahy served as former Chair and CEO of Xerox Corporation until her retirement in 2009. She currently serves as Lead Director of Johnson & Johnson, and on the boards of Graham Holdings Company, and LPL Financial Holdings, Inc. She previously served on the boards of Xerox, Williams-Sonoma, Inc., Catalyst, Citigroup Inc., Fuji Xerox Co. Ltd., and Target Corporation. Mulcahy also served as U.S. Board Chair of Save the Children and continues to serve as a Trustee. A noted thinker on CEO succession, Mulcahy’s article How I Did It: Xerox’s Former CEO on Why Succession Shouldn’t Be a Horse Race was featured in HBR.
CAREER HISTORY
In her board capacity at J&J, she serves as Chair of the Nominating & Corporate Governance committee as well as a member on the Finance and Audit committees. Her experience on both sides of the board table brings both depth and breadth to conversations with executives.
Prior to serving as CEO, Mulcahy was President and Chief Operating Officer of Xerox. She also served as President of Xerox’s General Markets Operations, which created and sold products for reseller, dealer and retail channels. Earlier in her career at Xerox, Mulcahy served as Vice President for Human Resources overseeing compensation, benefits, human resource strategy, labor relations, management development and employee training, and as Vice President and Staff Officer for Customer Operations, covering South America and Central America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
PERSONAL
Mulcahy was named one of the 50 women to watch by The Wall Street Journal and was ranked twice by Forbes among its Most Powerful Women in America in 2005 and 2009. She was also selected as ‘CEO of the Year 2008’ by Chief Executive magazine. She received a B.A. in English and Journalism from Marymount College of Fordham University. She and her husband currently reside in New York.
